Braintree, MA (June 30, 2016) -- Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley, OFM Cap. announced today the appointment of the Rev. Msgr. William P. Fay, Ph.D. as Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies for the Archdiocese of Boston, which include the Archdiocesan office of the Propagation of the Faith.  Msgr. Fay will continue as Director of Campus Ministry.  He recently completed his service as interim Director of the Formation Program for the Permanent Diaconate.  His appointment is effective July 1, 2016.  

"As our society faces the massive and violent assault on human life in Orlando on Sunday, the Archdiocese of Boston offers and encourages prayers on behalf of those who were killed in the attack, those who were injured, and all their families and friends.  At this time our prayers are also with Bishop Noonan and the Diocese of Orlando, with the wider community of Orlando, and for our country, once again confronted by the face of hatred expressed through gun violence.

The new motu proprio is clearly an important and positive step forward by Pope Francis. Its purpose includes establishing a clear and transparent means for ensuring greater accountability in how we, as leaders of the Church, handle cases of the abuse of minors and vulnerable adults. We are grateful that our Holy Father has received the recommendations from our Commission members and that they have contributed to this new and significant initiative.

Braintree, MA – The Holy See announced this morning that Pope Francis has named Rev. Robert P. Reed and Very Reverend Mark O’Connell, JCD as Auxiliary Bishops of the Archdiocese of Boston.  Bishop-elect Reed is President and CEO of iCatholic Media and Cabinet Secretary for Catholic Media.   Bishop-elect O’Connell currently serves as Judicial Vicar for the Archdiocese.

The cross for the new Our Lady of Good Voyage Seaport Chapel, 1 Seaport Blvd (corner of Seaport Blvd & Sleeper St), will be blessed tomorrow, Thursday, June 2, 2016 - beginning at 10:30 a.m., then lifted into place.
