Finance and Accounting Manager, Sacred Heart Parish and School, Roslindale, MA
Work 32 hours per week for Parish and School, on-site in Roslindale.
In consultation with the Pastor and with advice from Financial Council, develop, implement and administer local financial policies and procedures in accordance with the Parish Administration Manual, statutes of the archdiocese and federal and state laws.
Prepare Parish and School budgets, annual report, interim reports, general ledgers and reports for the Pastor, Finance Council and School Advisory Board, as applicable.
Monitor the cash flow and operating budget of the Parish and School and report to the Pastor and Finance Council.
Handle banking relations including management of bank accounts of Parish and School.
Manage bookkeeping functions, including, but not limited to, accounts payable and receivables, bank reconciliations and all other revenue and expenses related to the Parish and School. Work in conjunction with School Tuition Manager in the application of the tuition management software as it relates to the accounting system for the school.
Assist the Pastor in administration of offertory enhancement programs, electronic giving, fundraising for special Parish projects and Annual Catholic Appeal.
Oversee the management of Parish and School operational and financial records and prepare for Parish and School audits conducted by RCAB for finances, benefits and tuition.
Administer and process salaries and benefits for Parish and School employees. Maintain personnel/employee files for payroll and benefits. Implement in conjunction with Archdiocesan Human Resource and Benefits Departments human resource and benefit policies for all employees at Parish and School to ensure that all federal and state policies and payments are in compliance.
Coordinate the counting procedures for collections at Parish and School and monitor that all internal control procedures are followed for safeguarding of the collections and tuition.
Oversee financial aspects in coordination with Facilities Manager/Office Manager for daily maintenance functions and major repairs/renovations to ensure compliance with Archdiocesan policies to ensure projects remain within scope and on budget. Meet with vendors as necessary.
Oversee and assist Parish Office staff to ensure Parish office has implemented all required policies for volunteers and staff including annual CORI procedures, Virtus training and protection of parishioners’ and parents’ of students personal financial information per Massachusetts Data Security regulations.
Attend ongoing professional development provided by Archdiocese for finance, accounting, human resources, benefits and legal updates in order to implement best practices for the Parish and School.
Participate in Archdiocesan committees as requested to determine best practices for accounting, payroll and benefits.
Other duties as assigned by Pastor in order to implement best finance and operation practices for Parish and School.
Prioritize the needs of Parishioners, Parish and School staff to ensure that Sacred Heart Parish and School continue to be the welcoming, loving and accepting parish and school that they are.
Qualifications:
BA/BS in business, accounting, or related field with 7 plus years related experience or equivalent preferred.
3-5 years supervisory/management experience required.
Experience in handling confidential, sensitive matters with tact, respect and discretion required.
Knowledgeable about safety and security and human resources preferred.
Demonstrated experience in appropriate computer technology skills, must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software.
Experience administering payroll is preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
A strong service orientation is critical.
Understand and support the mission of the Church.
Physical Performance Elements:
Ability to use a computer keyboard for up to 8 hours/day.
Ability to sit for up to 8 hours/day.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
